Founded in 1901, WellStar Atlanta Medical Center is a 762-bed acute care hospital, with campuses in downtown Atlanta and East Point, GA. It is the second largest licensed-bed hospital in Georgia. A teaching hospital, Atlanta Medical Center is a Level 1 Trauma Center and Advanced Primary Stroke Center, earning numerous national awards for its treatment of stroke. It is widely recognized for its women’s services program, including water births, and the hospital’s weight‐loss program is designated as a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). WellStar Atlanta Medical Center provides sports medicine coverage to Atlanta Public Schools student athletes.
