The Internal Medicine Residency offers two programs: Categorical and Rural-Urban blend. Residents in the Cayuga-Cornell track will spend their first year in Manhattan training at the New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell program before joining their colleagues to complete their final two years of training in Ithaca. Both programs have a strong primary and community care focus. Training will focus on helping residents develop the necessary tools to apply evidence-based medicine to their patients in a model based on continuous learning and quality improvement. At the completion of training graduates will be prepared to pursue addition subspecialty training in competitive fellowships or enter the workforce to fill needed positions and deliver independent care to their communities.
