The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine has a mission to train and develop physician leaders and scientists who are agents of change. We commit to helping our students flourish as vital members of interprofessional teams in varied careers. Pitt-trained students are prepared for leadership in science, education, clinical care and administration. We expect to see our students improve the health and quality of life of patients and promote the health of communities. They will develop scientific breakthroughs, harness entrepreneurial energy, teach future physicians, make health care more equitable and accessible for patients and eliminate health disparities. To that end, we will create active, self-directed, lifelong learners with excellent foundations in the health sciences and clinical medicine. We pledge to sustain these goals by maintaining excellence in innovation, research, education, clinical and translational medicine, and systematic professional development. The School of Medicine operates on a global stage, with active collaborations connecting Pittsburgh with China, France, Ghana, Honduras, India, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malawi, the Philippines, Vietnam and many other nations.
