The central campus of Dicle University is located in Diyarbakır. With its 11 Faculties, 11 Vocational Schools, 1 Conservatory and 4 Schools, a Research Hospital with 1.200 beds, 18.600 students and a staff of 4.000 primarily in Diyarbakir, Batman, Mardin, Siirt and Sirnak it is the most dynamic power that can be an incentive role in the development not only of Diyarbakır but also of the whole region. Nearly 1.400 of this 4.000 personnel are academic personnel and Dicle University’s direct or indirect contribution to the employment reaches a total of 5.000 people, considering that at least 1.000 families each employs a woman for house cleaning, child care and etc. According to the industrial inventory of 2000, the importance of contribution of Dicle University to Diyarbakir is clearly seen in terms of employment which is provided by the 173 private sector investments is for 6.000 people.
